Disciples’ Generous Response
Hymn of Generosity: “Brothers and Sisters of Mine” CCS 616
Scripture Reading: Doctrine and Covenants 165:2
2 a. Free the full capacity of Christ’s mission
through generosity that imitates God’s generosity. b. Listen to the testimonies
of those responding generously. Follow your soul’s yearning to come home to
God’s grace and generosity. Let gratitude show you the way. c. Remember, a
basic discipleship principle is growing Christ’s mission through local and
world mission tithes according to true capacity. Giving to other worthwhile
organizations, while an important part of A Disciple’s Generous Response,
should not diminish or replace mission tithes. d. Tithing is a spiritual
practice that demonstrates willingness to offer every dimension of one’s life
to God. When defined by faith, love, and hopeful planning, including resolving
unwise debt, capacity to respond becomes much greater than initially assumed.
e. Stewardship as response to the ministry of Christ is more than individual giving.
It includes the generosity of congregations and jurisdictions that give to
worldwide ministries of the church to strengthen community in Christ in all
nations.

Blessing and Receiving of Local and Worldwide Mission Tithes
‘Yaw-awag ti Dios! Ingkayo! Iwaragawagyo ti Naimbag a Damag –
ti pagarian ti langit ket asidegen!
Brothers and sisters of mine are the hungry,
who sigh in their sorrow and weep in their pain.
Sisters and brothers of mine are the homeless,
who wait without shelter from wind and from rain.
Strangers and neighbors, they claim my
attention;
they sleep by my doorstep, they sit by my bed.
Neighbors and strangers, their anguish concerns me,
and I must not feast till the hungry are fed.
People are they, men and women and children;
and each has a heart keeping time with my own.
People are they, persons made in God’s image;
so what shall I offer them, bread or a stone?
God of all living, we make our confession:
too long we have wasted the wealth of our lands.
God of all loving, renew our compassion
and open our hearts while we reach out our hands.
578 Jesus Is Calling
Jesus is calling, oh, hear him today,
calling for you, calling for you.
Will you not quickly the summons obey?
Jesus is calling for you. (for you.)
(Women) Call – ing for you; .
(Men) Jesus is calling, is calling for you.
(Women) call – ing for you.
(Men) Jesus is calling, is calling for you.
(All) Hear him today; do not turn him away.
Jesus is calling for you. (for you.)
Jesus is calling, your service he needs,
calling for you, calling for you.
Tenderly, patiently with you he pleads;
Jesus is calling for you. (for you.)
Jesus is calling, he stands at the door,
calling for you, calling for you.
Open your heart, and his mercy implore;
Jesus is calling for you. (for you.)

As the Deer
As
the deer pants for the water,
so my soul longs after you;
you alone are my heart’s desire
and I long to worship you.
You
alone are my strength and shield;
to you alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire,
and I long to worship you.
96 Now in This Moment
Now
in this moment, now in this day,
God is creating and leading the way;
life is behind us, life is before;
we write the story not heard before.
This
is our story, this is our song,
praising our Savior all the day long.
This is our story, this is our song,
praising our Savior all the day long.
Past,
present, future, joy, sorrow, hope,
we write the story, and life is its scope.
God’s love assures us through the unknown,
God’s grace sustains us, we’re not alone.
