Beloved Community of Christ, do not just speak and sing Zion. Live, love, and share as Zion: those who strive to be visibly one in Christ, among whom there are no poor or oppressed.
And, always remember, the way of suffering love that leads to the cross also leads to resurrection and everlasting life in Christ’s eternal community of oneness and peace. Trust in this promise.

350 We Are a Family of Faith

We are a family of faith;
we have a Savior who’s kind.
We lift each other up.
We leave no one behind,
and if the least of us should stumble,
we all feel the pain:
Community of Christ is our name.

We are a family of faith;
we have a mission that’s clear:
to praise our Savior’s name.
We help build Zion here.
And we seek peace between the nations,
love between us all;
Community of Christ is our call.

We are a family of faith
and we look forward to the day
we see our Savior’s face,
he wipes our tears away,
and all the saints of every nation
rise to die no more:
Community of Christ evermore!

We are a family of faith;
we have a Savior who’s kind.
We lift each other up.
We leave no one behind,
and if the least of us should stumble,
we all feel the pain:
Community of Christ is our name.

Let the educational and community development endeavors of the church equip people of all ages to carry the ethics of Christ’s peace into all arenas of life. Prepare new generations of disciples to bring fresh vision to bear on the perplexing problems of poverty, disease, war and environmental deterioration. Their contributions will be multiplied if their hearts are focused on God’s will for creation.

183 O Living God

O living God, whose presence now surrounds us
and fills our hearts with joy and hope and peace,
help us to see that in your world around us
your Spirit breathes, your love will never cease.
But weary souls, that love not comprehending,
still need to know that your love brings release.

Creation groans for freedom, liberation;
grant us, O God, ears well-attuned to hear,
for in this moment, God, we are creating
the future that may bring your kingdom here.
Help us, O God, live daily in compassion,
make choices that will show your reign is near.

The peace of Christ be in us and shown through us,
and fill our world with harmony and peace.
The peace of Christ will fill us and renew us,
and bring us new direction and release.
Help us to be responsive, God, work through us;
your Spirit breathes, your love will never cease!

73 As We Gather

As we gather, may your Spirit work within us.
As we gather, may we glorify your name.
Knowing well that as our hearts begin to worship,
we’ll be blessed because we came,
we’ll be blessed because we came.

53 NAGAN NI JESUS NASAM-IT
(The Name of Jesus Is So Sweet )

Nagan ni Jesus nasam-it,
Ayatec nga iyul-ulit;
An-anayenna ti rag-oc,
Ti naganna a Jesus.

Coro:
“Jesus,” oh nagsam-iten!
“Jesus,” di agbalbaliw;
“Jesus,” dayaw sasantos,
Idayaw awan gibos.

Ayatec nagan ni Jesus,
Makipagrikna ti tuoc,
Papanawennat’ ririboc,
Patgec nagan a Jesus.

Nagan nasam-it a denggen,
Pusoc inna paragsaken ,
Pagsardengenna ti lulua,
Itan-oc yo ni Jesus.

Awan ti macaibaga,
Nokasanot’ kasam-itna?
O dayaw na padakkelen;
Nagan “Jesus” dayawen.

384 The Spirit of God like a Fire Is Burning

The Spirit of God like a fire is burning;
the latter-day glory begins to come forth;
the visions and blessings of old are returning;
the angels are coming to visit the earth.

We’ll sing and we’ll shout with the armies of heaven,
“Hosanna, hosanna to God and the Lamb!”
Let glory to them in the highest be given
henceforth and forever! Amen, and amen!

The Lord is extending his saints’ understanding,
restoring their judges and all as at first;
the knowledge and power of God are expanding;
the veil o’er the earth is beginning to burst.

How blessed the day when the lamb and the lion
shall lie down together in peace with a child.
With one heart and mind may the Lord call us Zion:
a people of justice, by God’s love inspired!

We call in our solemn assemblies, in spirit,
to spread forth the kingdom of heaven abroad,
that we through our faith may begin to inherit
the visions and blessings and glories of God.

130 For the Beauty of the Earth

For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies:

Lord of all, to thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.
(last time) Amen.

For the joy of human love,
brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth and friends above,
for all gentle thoughts and mild:

For thyself, best Gift Divine
to the world so freely giv’n,
for that great, great love of thine,
peace on earth, and joy in heav’n:

609 Take My Gifts and Let Me Love You

Take my gifts and let me love you,
God who first of all loved me,
gave me light and food and shelter,
gave me life and set me free,
now because your love has touched me,
I have love to give away,
now the bread of love is rising,
loaves of love to multiply!

Take the fruit that I have gathered
from the tree your Spirit sowed,
harvest of your own compassion,
juice that makes the wine of God,
spiced with humor, laced with laughter—
flavor of the Jesus life,
tang of risk and new adventure,
taste and zest beyond belief.

Take whatever I can offer—
gifts that I have yet to find,
skills that I am slow to sharpen,
talents of the hand and mind,
things made beautiful for others
in the place where I must be:
take my gifts and let me love you,
God who first of all loved me.

257 Standing on the Promises

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
through eternal ages let his praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.

(melody) Stand - ing,
(harmony) Standing on the promises,

(melody) stand - ing,
(harmony) standing on the promises,

(all) standing on the promises of God my Savior;
(melody) stand - ing,
(harmony) standing on the promises,

(melody) stand - ing,
(harmony) standing on the promises,
(all) I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to him eternally by love’s strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
list’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God.

118 Great and Marvelous Are Thy Works

Great and marvelous are thy works,
O Lord of hosts, almighty One!
Earth and firmament speak thy praise;
thy name is written in the sun.

Sing of his mighty love, for it is wonderful;
let his praise through all the earth resound;
honor and majesty now and forever be
unto God whose love and mercy have no bound.

Thou hast fashioned with thine own hand
the earth below, the heavens above;
O how wonderful is thy power,
and yet how tender is thy love.

287 Come and Bring Light

Come and bring light to a people in darkness.
Come, set us free from the chains we have made.
We are your people, the flock that you tend.
Lord, open our eyes once again.

To the ones brokenhearted: open our eyes.
To the plight of the poor: open our eyes.
To the innocent children: open our eyes.
Teach us compassion and love.

To the victims of violence: open our eyes.
To the ones who seek justice: open our eyes.
To those sitting in prison: open our eyes.
Teach us compassion and love.

When a color divides us: open our eyes.
When the darkness surrounds us: open our eyes.
When we choose to look elsewhere: open our eyes.
Teach us compassion and love.

To those full of life’s sorrow: open our eyes.
To the needs of the lowly: open our eyes.
To the ones who seek peace: open our eyes.
Teach us compassion and love.

To those suffering illness: open our eyes.
To those trapped by addiction: open our eyes.
To those lost or forgotten: open our eyes.
Teach us compassion and love.

Hymn: "Spirit of the Living God” CCS 567

Focus Moment

Based on Psalm 139:14-18

Show a clear container filled with sand. Ask how many grains of sand are inside.

Ask, If you were to count the grains, how long would it take? That jar of sand is like God’s love. God’s love for us is so great that it’s hard to count.

What are some other things that would be hard to count?

For example, leaves on a tree, hairs on our heads, blades of grass in the lawn.

When we look at a tree, or the lawn, or our friend’s head of hair, we see the whole thing, not the individual leaves, hairs, or blades. When we think of God’s love, we see the whole thing—our lives as precious to God.

Verse 18 of the psalm says, “I try to count them—they are more than the sand; I come to the end—I am still with you.” In other words, we don’t have to count all the ways God loves us; it’s just important that we know that God is always with us.

141 ITI DAYDI A RABII
(The Last Supper)

Iti daydi rabii,
Panangtiliwda kencuana,
Anac ti Dios naasi,
Nga inyawat di gayyemna.

Casangoananna la unay,
Nangala iti tinapay,

Ket castoy ti insawangna.

Napisi gaput’ basolyo,

Tanda’t tulag a baro.

Aginggat dica agsubli,
A mangala cadacami.

636 I Have Called You by Your Name

I have called you by your name, you are mine;
I have gifted you and ask you now to shine.
I will not abandon you;
all my promises are true.
You are gifted, called, and chosen; you are mine.

I will help you learn my name as you go;
read it written in my people, help them grow.
Pour the water in my name,
speak the word your soul can claim,
offer Jesus’ body given long ago.

I know you will need my touch as you go;
feel it pulsing in creation’s ebb and flow.
Like the woman reaching out,
choosing faith in spite of doubt,
hold the hem of Jesus’ robe, then let it go.

I have given you a name, it is mine;
I have given you my Spirit as a sign.
With my wonder in your soul,
make my wounded children whole;
go and tell my precious people they are mine.

80 O Lord, Grace Our Communion

O Lord, grace our communion
in the promise of this hour.
We await some confirmation
of your liberating power.
Even though your saints here gathered
the human burden share,
in the warmth of your compassion,
how can our hearts despair?

Into lives weighed down by sorrow
let your Spirit gently flow;
may the bruised and brokenhearted,
resurrection surely know.
And so, renewed in spirit,
with newborn hearts aflame,
let this waiting congregation
rise up and praise your name.

567 Spirit of the Living God

English
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me;
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
